“Die Schweizermacher” – we create Switzerland!

With this volume Rolf Lyssy– director of the so far most successfull swiss movie with the same title – is honored by the emeritus philosophy professor Georg Kohler and Felix Ghezzi on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Along with the appreciation of the movie and its director, the authors show that “Die Schweizermacher” not only marches to a different drummer because of its success, but also otherwise polarizes. “NZZ Bücher am Sonntag” discusses why Lyssy’s movie was pretty different from others.

Back then, the movie raised a question which couldn’t be more relevant today: how does Switzerland handle residents which do not own a red passport? Several authors take into account this issue and screen it in retrospections, interviews and source material.

It’s a major honor for Nathaly Bachmann that she could discuss today’s and tomorrow’s narrative – applied to the presence – together with Jobst Wagner and Andreas Müller (avenir Suisse) in Georg Kohler’s round table.

In the book “Wir machen die Schweiz. Ein Gespräch über Zuversicht, narrative, gute Politik und was zu tun wäre“, the three talk about the Swiss self-conception and its twist to mistrust the future.
